Hi! I hope you're having an awesome day! While I hang out on tumblr pretty exclusively nowadays, I thought it might be easier for you to find my letter if I put it up here. So, here it is!

So, let's go through the list!

Requested pairings:
Nate/Ray
Ray/Walt

I just really dig the dynamics you can have with these pairings, and I'm especially interested in post-Iraq Ray, who is noted by Wright to be a much quieter guy. Like, who is Ray off Ripped Fuel and down from the war-high? How much of who he is on the page/screen actually carries over into his non-military life? And what's it like for Nate or Walt to respond to that? Do they find it hard to change gears, sometimes, or is the changing nature of Ray something they love about him because he's just RAY?

Requested characters:
Ray (you're probably seeing a theme here)
SIxta
Stafford
Godfather

Fuckin' loves me a character study, and I love all of these guys, so if you're in the mood to explore who they are and how they work and how they feel about themselves and what they do, I'd love to read it. Any sort of day-in-the-life shit would be grand. You can do them as the main character in an ensemble piece or maybe just them doing their thing. I am not picky at all. Some ideas to help you get your mind working: We know what Sixta's like to the men, but how's he seen by the higher ups? Who is he, really, when the uniform is off? Godfather's thoughts on his men when they stand outside his tent with that little boy; Godfather's thoughts on being in charge of these hardened combat men when he's mostly worked parade duty shit. How does Stafford see himself? His relationship with Christenson? His view of the world in general?

I am good with any stories based at any times. So, before, during, or after canon is great and diverging off canon is great.

Crossover request:
Supernatural

Any sort of crossover/fusion you want to do with SPN would be killer. If you wanted to interrupt our known canon so Brad and Ray or Stafford and Christenson or maybe even Godfather and Sixta can gank a baddie local to Iraq, that would be pretty boss. If you just want to take our boys and drop them into SPN as a whole, go for it. It'd be great.

Non-listed stuff:
Just a few things I dig that might help you decide where to go with the story.

Kinks:
Actually, this list is stuff I'm NOT into, as the stuff I'm into is much longer. So, if you decide to go all hot-sweaty-dudes for me, please DO NOT write any sort of sexual humiliation, dub-con, watersports, extreme pain play, or any sort of unhealthy relationship in general. Everything else is pretty much free game. I am especially fond of spanking, quickies, slow burns, and bickery, teasing banter.

Crossovers/Fusions
I dig crossovers/fusions as a whole, and maybe you don't know SPN or have no interest in writing it. Other fandoms I like that you might know or want to work with: Pacific Rim, Person of Interest, West Wing (+5 if you can get Lord John Marbury to pop up), Avengers (movie or comics), Iron Man (movies or comics), Captain America (movies or comics; oh, look, another theme).

I hope this letter has helped you get a few ideas about what you might write. I'm sure whatever you come up with is gonna be great!

comments

Fannishly, it works well for me because it's all "Ooh, shiny!" and super easy to post any tiny thing that catches my interest. Personally, I'm sort of tired of only using this spot to post fic and do the personal bitch and moan under lock. I know it's my blog, and I can bitch and moan all I want, but I don't want to do it anymore because when I scroll back through entries I hate seeing how many of them recently have been bitch and moan.

So, over on tumblr, mostly. Will still post fic here. No more personal stuff because fuck it.

comments

I do not mean to be hiding on tumblr fannishly, but I do not have any real thinky-thoughts, re: fandom right now (because my brain is fucking mush), so my time spent over there is mostly going, "Ooh, neat! Reblog!" But right now I have some thinky-thoughts and love having an actual blog so that people might read them.

--Still writing Clint/Coulson because of the Internet. I think I have four stories in progress? And I have plans for at least one other. Also, I am trying to write Corgi!Phil fic because there are a couple of Corgi!Clint fics, and I figured Phil should get his turn. I am now of the opinion the reason no one has written Corgi!Phil is because it's kind of goddamn hard. I just want him to be all floppy and ridiculous and sort of hate it but love the attention, and instead, the goddamn thing is 4000 words long and they've only just made it back to his apartment.

--MAD MEN HOLY CRAP. So, I watch the show, and I also read the recaps/style recaps at Tom & Lorenzo, and they've mentioned the writing is more obviously on-point this season so far rather than being more subtle, and I think it's being done purposely. [Unknown site tag]

The whole point of Mad Men is that it's showcasing a decade that went from "This is how we do things" to "holy fuckballs what," and I feel the more on-point writing is meant to parallel how the characters are noticing what feels like a sudden, scary change. They can no longer ignore things or brush them off as frivolous, much in the same way we, as an audience are now being forced to accept that these characters are maybe WAY more flawed than we'd like to admit (Pete), or more content than we'd readily believe (Don), or possibly even more awkward than we ever thought possible (Peggy [dear lord, girl, seriously]). So, I think it's an intentional choice by the writers to make us feel the same level of confusion and uncomfortableness that the characters are going through right now in their lives.

--With Avengers coming out so soon, I really want to read more Hawkeye. I've read the Ultimates mini, and it was very good (Hickman is generally a guy I consider 'very good'), but I'm no fond of Hawkeye having enhancements. It ruins the whole point of the character for me, which is that he's a badass normal working himself into the ground because, goddamnit, he WANTS to be who he is. And Fraction and Aja are about to launch a Hawkeye book that stars Clint AND Kate Bishop (or, as I like to call it, "Please, Marvel, take my goddamn money"), but I still want to do some background reading. So, recs if you have them.

--I may be completely addicted to Toddlers & Tiaras. I'm not proud of this, but I can't look away, and I always promised that the day I wouldn't admit to liking something was probably the day I probably shouldn't associate with it at all. It's such a combination of terrible and pretty all right in terms of people (really, some of the kids and parents seem perfectly normal), and I have this long-standing fascination with just that whole world of pageants and such. I think part of being able to watch it comes from the fact that it's more a documentary than a reality show. It doesn't feel nearly as staged a lot of other "realistic" reality shows. I actually can't stand most reality tv because it is completely transparent in its bullshit "plots" and "drama." At least with T&T, a screaming kid is directly related to a shitty parent.

All right, that's it, back to the homework mines.

comments

My giveadamn is officially borked, I think. Which would be fine were it not for the fact that, a) I'm taking a very important, heavy classload and b) I graduate in June.

Yup. I'm fucked.

On the upside, one of the books for one of my classes is one of the prettiest goddamn things I have ever seen. Also, I apparently can't stop writing Clint/Coulson, and I am so okay with this. And new footage has come out, and I may have shouted "MOTHERFUCKING HELICARRIER" while alone in my apartment.

Oh, and
( Error: Irreparable invalid markup in entry.
