I'm apparently in the minority
But I really enjoyed X-Men 3
I love really good action scenes, and I really think that Ratner pulled that off. I also think that there was good work done overall. Yes, there was a lot to cover, and yes, cutting out one or two things would have been better for the length of the film, but overall I'm happy.
I do have my bitch file. Firstly, if you're gonna put Warren in the movie, fuckin' USE him. I wanted to see more. All together Ben Foster had all of seven minutes on film, I think, and I think Warren could have been used much more overall. Yes, we see him escape, and yes we see him show up, and yes we see him fly in and save his dad, but there's so much more that could have been done. When they were all in the office, discussing closing the school, there should have been more with him there. I'm hoping, since it definitely looks like there will be a fourth, that they stick with the team they have and really do a lot with all those characters. Yeah, Collusses is a bad ass, but we don't have his history, and I really want that.
Otherwise, I am really happy with everything. I love how the teenage wangst that was Rogue, Bobby, and Kitty was based on the usual teenage bullshit. Bobby was the Bobby I've always loved--the nice guy who just wanted to be Kitty's friend, and Rogue had a teenage over-reaction and freaked, which I enjoyed because it was a teenage reaction, and it was nice to see that they didn't try to make the kids much more mature than they should have been.
Bonus points for total Iceman Bobby. I've been waiting three movies for that. And it made me squee.
And that's all I've got. Discussion is welcome.
Also? Magento/Xavier? Lookit that first scene. That's an old married couple.
I don't have a Marvel icon, so you're stuck with Robin.
