Oh, dear, what have we done? [A bit of L&O]

I was chatting with amazonqueenkate while catching up on L&O, and I am fascinated by Mike Cutter in 18.10, wherein he and Connie have a really good argument about Connie's hotness. The thing that fascinates me most is that Mike seems completely at a loss about WHY it's so demeaning to Connie to have him exploit her that way. Not lost in a "big manly cave man" way, but more in a, "I'm a very analytical person and don't quite make the connection way."

And this, somehow, has caused amazonqueenkate and I to squee over a possible High School AU, wherein Mike is just awkward and everything comes out wrong, but his mock trial coach, Mr. McCoy, is really cool and gets him. ANd so on and so forth.

And Van Buren would totally be the principal.

The L&O High School AU set-up

1. Mike Cutter-new kid at Manhattan Prep. Awkward, somewhat shy. His parents decided on boarding school after he'd been through a crap ton of schools because of how they moved around. Joins the mock trial and swim team.

2. Cyrus Lupo-One of Mike's roommates at Manhattan Prep. Kind of moody but will do anything for Headmistress Van Buren. He's a hall monitor. Crush on Ed Green.

3. Ed Green-Mike's other roommate at Manhattan Prep. Laid-back, happy. Adores Headmistress Van Buren as much as Lupo, but shows it by trying to sneak things by her. Does not realize Lupo has a crush.

4. Connie Rubirosa-Friend of Mike Cutter's. Cheerleader and basketball player. Mike's girl-crush.

5. Headmistress Anita Van Buren-The ruler of grounds at Manhattan Prep. Beloved and feared in equal measure, on excellent terms with her staff.

6. Mr. Jack McCoy-Political Science teacher and adviser of the mock trial team. Affable and demanding of his mock trial students. Discovers that Mike Cutter is a force to be reckoned with.

7. Mr. Briscoe-Music teacher.


It'll be McCoy/Cutter with plenty of angst and relationship type stuff. There will also be Lupo/Green and a bit of Cutter/Rubirosa.
