I nearly forgot to post this, and I'm ashamed for that.
So, if you've been keeping up with WBoA (and if not, you're about to be brought up to speed), I'm in a genre writing class this semester. My prof knows her shit, and she's super tech-happy. She's got a Kindle, and one of the people in class was asking to look at it, so she showed it to him, talking about how you can download .pdf files to it as well as books (My Nook does the same thing. It's awesome.).
And then this happened:
HER: "The .pdf files are great, because I know some fan fic authors who format their stories like that, so I can just carry them with me."
STUDENT: "Fan fic?"
HER: "Oh, yeah, there's some great fan fic authors out there."
STUDENT: ::skeptical look::
HER: "Really."
I about jumped out of my seat to see what fandoms she read, and if we had any authors in common. But I tend to be pretty closed-mouth about fandom unless I'm with certain people because I didn't have fannish people around me for a very long time (or if I did, none of us said anything). But I did grin like an idiot.
