Summary: A wedding before an engagement. A honeymoon before a wedding.
Posted: Here and at [livejournal.com profile] astinwood. It may end up at the yahoo lists soon.

Diclaimer: This is total shit.

Author's Notes: [livejournal.com profile] beizy made me do it. We were innocently chatting while I surfed her lj, and she had this picture of Sean with an *earring*, and I had to write a little something, so I did, and then, because she seemed so pleased, I wrote more. So, yeah, blame her.

"Sean, what the hell is that?" Elijah reached out and touched his forefinger to Sean's left earlobe.

Sean blushed a little and didn't quite look Elijah in the eye. "I'm counting it as a very early contribution to my mid-life crisis."

"So, do you like it?"

Elijah tilted his head and watched the earring glint in the light. He leaned in and licked the edge of Sean's ear before sucking lightly on the lobe and earring. His breath on Sean's ear made them both shiver. "It's very you."

Sean chuckled. "Sure. And those mesh tank tops for "50 First Dates" looked great."

Elijah slid his hand up the front of Sean's T-shirt and traced the muscles that were still new to him after so much time of having a Sam-sized Sean. "They did, actually." He slid an arm around Sean and pressed his cheek against Sean's. "Of course, I may be slightly biased, since I think you're hot no matter."

"Oh, yeah?" Sean kissed Elijah's jaw and traced a finger over his ear. "How much power does this bias give me?"

Elijah pulled far enough away for Sean to appreciate his over-done eyebrow lift. "Am I about to create a monster?"

"Maybe?" Sean trailed his fingers down Elijah's back.

"What do you want, Sean?"

"I just wonder, " Sean stroked Elijah's ear again; "what you would look like with a little blue stud in your ear."

Eiljah grinned. "Is this like an engagement earring? Because, if it is I'd like you to at least get on one knee so the story can be disgustingly cute and romantic when retold a thousand times to random people at bars."

"And if I get on one knee, will you accept?"

"You don't have to do anything to get me to accept."

Sean felt every solid part of him melt into one large puddle of affection. He threaded his fingers into Elijah's hair and pressed their foreheads together. "I'd do anything for you."

Elijah tilted his head for a kiss. "I'd do anything for you, too."

Sean kissed him softly. "What do you say we skip the engagement and call that list bit our vows at the wedding?"

"Does that mean we can skip straight to the honeymoon?"

Sean laughed. "It would make the most sense."

Elijah threaded his fingers with Sean's and pulled him towards the bedroom. "Well, come on, then."

*

Sean was up and out of the house early the next morning. He left a note on the fridge for Elijah telling him he'd be back before noon. When he kissed a still-sleeping Elijah goodbye, he got a snuffle, a nose rub, and a half-turn away from him in thanks. He smiled to himself and made sure the door was locked when he left.

When he got back three hours later with the mail and the groceries, there was a note from Elijah to replace the one he'd left that said Elijah would be back before two. Sean grinned at the note and started putting the groceries away. He heard the door to the apartment open as he stacked the vegetables in the crisper drawer. "You gave yourself plenty of time to get lost, didn't you?"

"I find it's usually safest."

Sean heard the unmistakable sounds of Elijah toeing off his sneakers and dropping his jacket on the back of one of the living room chairs. He closed the fridge and walked into the living room smiling. "I was afraid we were going to be playing note tag all day. I'm going to the gym in-" Sean stopped talking when he noticed Elijah cupping a hand over his left ear. "Lij, you okay?"

"I'm fine." Elijah beamed at Sean and dropped his hand. A small, blue stud winked in his ear. "I got you a present."

"I can see that." Sean walked across the room to Elijah and touched his ear. "It's beautiful."

"Actually, I wasn't talking about just the earring." Elijah was still standing by the chair where he'd tossed his jacket, and he pulled a small box out of the pocket. "I got you this, too."

Sean took the box and turned it over in his hands. "This looks like a ring box." He looked at Elijah, who said nothing, just watched Sean with a slightly guarded look in his eyes. He opened the box. Two silver rings sat on velvet. One had an 'E' carved into it, the other an 'S'. Sean felt his knees go weak. "Lij, I-"

"I'm not sure how serious you were about the whole engagement/marriage thing we were joking about last night," Elijah spoke quickly; "but I know how I feel about it, and I know that sometimes when I think way into the future, I see the two of us all old and toothless sitting side-by-side under the same ugly blanket. I've been thinking about asking you about maybe getting rings or something lately, but then you brought up the whole earring thing, and I took it as a sign, and I decided to get the rings."

"Lij, breathe." Sean watched Elijah take a deep breath. He smiled and pulled both of the rings from the box. "They're great. I love them. I love you. And I'll wear mine everyday until you tell me I'm not allowed to anymore, and if hell freezes and that happens, I'll even wear it after." Sean turned the rings over in his hand. There was a word carved on the inside, and Sean squinted to read it. "Is that Elvish?"

"Yeah." Elijah blushed. "It means 'forever'." He blushed a little harder. "I know it's kind of cheesy, putting it in a language no one else can really read, but I feel like that about us, and I don't ever want to forget that I found you because of the movies, and I just-"

It was Sean's turn to interrupt Elijah. "I love them. You could have gotten them out of a gum machine and had them engraved with 'I'm with stupid', and I would still love them. And if you'll put mine on my finger, we'll call ourselves a ful-fledged married couple and get back to our honeymoon."

Elijah smiled and plucked the ring with the 'E' from Sean's hand. "You'll wear my initial so part of me is always there with you, and so you can always look down and know that I always want to be with you."

Sean slipped the 'S' ring onto Elijah's finger. "And you'll wear my initial so you'll always know that part of me is with you, no matter what or where or when."

They kissed on the vow and laughed together as they went back towards the bedroom. There was a honeymoon to finish.

Just wanted to check in again and tell you how much I am enjoying your SeanA/Elijah fics. They are certainly my otp (though I do enjoy lots of other kinds of LOTR slash) and I just love your take on them both. Don't worry if you simplify things by having Sean get divorced; it's a device we have all used from time to time! Just write what you want. But you know that already. I am SO enjoying these. Thank you thank you thank you.
