Look, I have an incredibly base sense of humor. Farts make me laugh. Really offensive jokes make me laugh. I have a joke that involves a guy having sex with a headless corpse in a war zone. To offend me takes some serious effort. It's kind of impressive how Seth Macfarlene and his team on "Family Guy" can do it in just two lines a piece.
In the episode where Brian discovers he has a son, a flashback shows him talking to his girlfriend at the time. She is tearfully recounting being raped by her father. There's a brief pause, and then this:
BRIAN: "So, you go all the way?"
In the seventh season opener, Brian is introduced to a woman at a costume party. She's covered in blood and says she's a victim of the liberal agenda. She then spouts abosolutely ridiculous "facts" about abortion ["Sometimes, they put the baby back in so they can abort it again".]. Her lines are meant to be funny, and I giggiled at the "back in" line for its sheer audacity. And then there was this:
BRIAN: "So, you've never voluntarily had sex, have you?"
RAPE IS NOT SEX, SETH MACFARLENE. The ONLY type of sex is VOLUNTARY. Everything else is RAPE. To equate the two not once, but twice [and possibly more, I haven't watched every episode], is disgusting, ignorant, and informs your rabid, 15-year-old fanboys that girls who are raped are easy or crazy but can't be decent or sane.
I stopped watching "Family Guy" because the humor kept falling flat. I've checked it out every now and again because sometimes they still mash together a fun episode. I'm done, now. I won't continue even half-ass support of a show that tries to make rape funny by insuianting women who have been raped are sluts or nuts.
THAT'S ENOUGH, SETH MACFARLENE.
