He’s pretty. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. Accent. Pout. He’s a melodrama TV doctor come to life. House can’t help but rib him, push his buttons. It’s too easy to watch that pretty pale face blush. It’s too much fun to watch those eyes flash fire. Wilson’s warned him off. Chase’s father is a big important man. Chase’s father could kick House’s ass.
“He can beat up a cripple. How impressive.”
“Greg,” said with the exasperation only Wilson has the balls to use. “You can’t just tease him to get yourself off.”
“Why not?” Greg honestly doesn’t understand why. Rules of etiquette have never made sense to him. Why be polite when you can be honest? “He doesn’t know why I’m doing it. Who’s it hurting?”
“Me. You’re giving me a headache.”
“So go away.”
Wilson does, and House smirks. It’s amusing to run people off. He sees Chase up ahead. “Test results?” He barks the question.
“Nothing a bit conclusive.” Chase hands over the folder. “We’ve still got stuff running.”
“Then why are you here?” House waits for the blush or fire.
“Couldn’t stay away from you, of course.” The fire in Chase’s eyes holds the same fire of his voice.
Pleasure shivers down House’s spine. He has to fight not to smile. “Does you father enjoy beating up cripples?”
