I'm up for CJ recs this month at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, so of course I'm behind as of right now.

Jordan Cavenaugh-Our lady of awesome. She’s brash, blunt, stubborn, tough, a classic workaholic, and can’t pick up on romantic signals to save her freakin’ life. She came into the Boston MEs office after being booted from numerous ME positions all over the country. She can rope nearly anyone into her crazy schemes, and gets lectured a lot about getting in the way. Her mother was murdered when she was young, and a strong thread through the first couple of seasons involved Jordan trying to find the killer. That dead horse seems to have been beaten for the last time, and now the concentration is on Jordan as a person, not Jordan as a half-orphaned kid. Her father is alive but somewhere in the ether, although he played a role in the first couple of seasons, not only in trying to get Jordan to let go of her mother’s murder, but also by being a former cop who would help her investigate. Garrett is probably her closest friend.

Garrett Macy-The head of the Boston ME’s office. Worked with Jordan briefly back in 1995 before hiring her on after all her other troubles playing well with others. He’s gruff, he likes jazz, and he also can’t seem to hold a relationship for shit. He has an ex-wife and daughter who seemed to have disappeared into the sub-plot sub-basement for good, once tried to date Lily [it didn’t end particularly well], and dated a total annoyance of a prosecuting attorney before finally telling her to shove it. He has the highest regard for his people and protects them fiercely. Jordan is probably is closest friend.

Mashesh “Bug” Vijay [also seen as “Vijayaraghavensatanaryanamurthy”]-The team entomologist [the bug guy; hence the nickname]. Born in India, raised in England, was made a natural citizen during the second season. If there is a fandom woobie, Bug is it. He’s been pistol-whipped, shovel-smacked, kidnapped, put into a coma, and never had a relationship that lasted. He loves Star Trek: Voyager [he even writes fan fic!], nature, and butterflies. Tends to be more on the quiet side and doesn’t have great people skills. His parents are both still living, but his younger brother died when they were both kids. Bug still feels like it was his fault. His best friend is Nigel Townsend.

Nigel Townsend-Born in England. Raised in England. The morgue’s resident bad boy. He likes punk music, band t-shirts, designing clothes, and anything electronic. Has been seen driving a motorcycle on occasion. When it comes to slash in fandom, Nigel is a gift from the powers that be. He’s never come out and owned up to any particular sexuality, but he’s insinuated on more than one occasion that he’s not straight. He’s dated one person on-screen during the show’s run, a woman, and she ended up being a psycho bitch, trying to frame her ex for kidnapping. Nigel is great with people and loves to have a good time. His best friend is Bug, or as he calls him, “Buggles”.

Woodrow “Woody” Hoyt-Detective who works with the people at the morgue. Born and raised in Wisconsin. Moved to Boston for unknown reasons at the beginning of season two, and is a kick ass cop. His feelings for Jordan are well-known by the both of them, but nothing has ever happened. He was shot in the stomach at the end of season four, and Jordan finally confessed to loving him. Woody basically told her to get out and stay out. He was a total, psycho basket-case at the beginning of season five, due to the shooting, but he’s calmed down a little. How much is actual calming and how much is a farce, the viewers don’t know. Hast one brother, Calvin [Cal], who gets into a lot of trouble. Hasn’t spoken to him since Cal nearly got Woody, Jordan, and himself killed the last time he was in Boston. When he’s not crazy, he’s a pretty nice guy who is very intent on his work.

Lily-The morgue’s grief counselor. She’s smart, tough, and very kind. Raised up by her alcoholic mother and is something of a free spirit. In earlier seasons there were references to her free-spiritedness [she was going to make a Thai Fusion dinner for Thanksgiving], but not much has been said recently. Her tattoos showed up on a regular basis, but they seem to be covered or gone now. Attempted to date Garrett, shot down Bug, and is still about the sweetest person to ever walk the face of the Earth [yes, I’m biased.]

Take a look if you'd like and let me know if I've missed anything. I have a few more characters I want to add in:

Roz
Maguire [not so much I want to, as I have to]
Peter
Seely

So let me know what you know, and I'll get this up with pictures.
