Question of the day
Jun. 5th, 2006 09:59 amDoes Bobby Goren crochet?
Hee. That ryhmed. [And I think I spelled that wrong.]
So, does he or doesn't he? There's a part of me that says he does. He's a twitchy guy. Crochet would be a good way to twitch but in a controlled way [talking from experience here]. I can see him learning from a book. He wandered into the craft section of the library once and there was a crochet book, being the information hound he is, he'd pick it up and give it a look, and he'd be off to the store for a hook and yarn, and he would, in no time at all, be snapping out single crochet scarves and double-thick potholders. And then he'd move on to new stitches, and he'd learn all the fun ones. Bobble stitch, popcorn stitch, v-stitch, and he'd make hats and blankets and maybe even a sweater, but at the same time, no one would know. Because no matter the man's love of information and no matter his twitch, he's a very private guy, so it'd be someting he does when he's home alone. Until, at least, Ron happens along his finished project box when he's digging around for something under the bed. Maybe a tie tack or a cuff link or something similar.
So, thoughts?
Also, I've posed this question before, but I ask again: In fandom, who crochets? I think the agreed-upon list last time was Nigel from "Crossing Jordan", Munch from "SVU" [although, he does it badly], and JD from "Scrubs". Who else? Discussion is open to all possible fandoms.

on 2006-06-05 06:16 pm (UTC)CSI.... I could see Greg crocheting. And being totally horrible at it. Like, horrible-beyond-description. Chartruse scarves that look like monsters and things.
The same kind of thing for Disher. In Monk. (Monk could never crochet; he'd be too much of a perfectionist.)
And maybe Mark made his own scarf? Or Roger made it for him. The rock god, brooding over yarn. It'd be hilarious, if OOC.

on 2006-06-05 06:39 pm (UTC)I could see Roger knitting, perhaps, as he could use the needles as drumsticks if needed.
I love the idea of Greg crocheting, although I don't think he'd be terrible as much as have the same taste he always has. So chartruse, yes, but with all kinds of cool stitching techniques. Or possibly he'd make a scarf that looks like a giant monster mouth.
But Disher? Disher would be terrible about it but keep trying because he's Disher.

on 2006-06-05 08:03 pm (UTC)Okay, that is true. If Greg had the patience to sit down, he'd make really cool things. In horrible colors and patterns. And they'd burn retinas, but look interesting.
Disher would never give up. Even after Monk kept unraveling his attempts and even when Stottlemeyer throws his crochet needle out the window. Because Disher is love.

on 2006-06-05 08:07 pm (UTC)Greg would make potholders in lime green and flouresent orange because they're quick and easy.
Okay, picture this:
Disher has been making a blanket for his mother for months. He's been using fancy-looking stitches and changing colors and all that stuff, right? This project is his baby. He's half a skein from finished and what happens? Monk. Who can't stand that the rows are exactly even and starts to unravel to make it better, pausing every few tugs to roll the yarn into a fully symetrical ball. Disher comes back, and there's his blanket in skein form, from darkest to lightest color, just lining his desk.

Ooh. I love your Disher scenario, though it kind of hurts. I want to hug him, but I could so see that happening. Poor Disher. He goes through so much shit.

on 2006-06-05 08:17 pm (UTC)I can also see Eames implementing a 'no needles in the car' thing, as she'd be afraid he'd poke himself if they'd have to jump out of the car quickly.
