LONDON (Reuters) - The fate of fictional boy wizard
Harry Potter will finally be revealed on July 21, the publication day for the seventh and final installment of J.K. Rowling's hugely successful book series.

In what promises to be one of the biggest publishing events in recent years, book stores will be bracing for another outbreak of Pottermania as fans across the world snap up their copies of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Speculation has been rife that Rowling, who became a dollar billionaire on the back of the success of the Harry Potter books and spin-off movies, may kill Harry at the end of book seven.

She said last year that at least two characters would die in the final book, and that she understood authors' desire to kill off the main character of a successful series.

Two top U.S. authors, John Irving and Stephen King, were sufficiently concerned over the fictional hero's fate to urge Rowling to spare Potter.

Potter publisher Bloomsbury Publishing Plc announced the release date on Thursday, and added that it remained cautious about its outlook in light of challenging market conditions, although the announcement supported its previously stated view of a satisfactory outcome for 2007.

It's shares were trading at 225 pence at 1240 GMT on Thursday, up around two percent from Wednesday's close. Broader shares were also higher, with the FTSE 100 up more than one percent by the same time.

I now open the bidding pool to speculation on deaths. My money's on at least one Weasley and probably Snape.

How many stamps? [Just so I can match it.]

What's your Ron theory?

17.

Mostly, I think its going to be someone really close to him and he'll need Hermione's brains until the end.
Could be Ginny -- actually, I hope its her. Don't like her.
I'm praying its not Hermione, Luna, Neville, or the twins.

I think it could be Percy. I've got this very conspiracy theory type idea that he's been undercover this whole time, which is why he's shoved his family away, and there's going to be a moment, after his death, where they find out how brave he is.

My serious money [all 60 cents and 17 stamps], is on Molly. She's always been the person to really dote and love on Harry as a mother-type, and if she goes, he goes crazy, and off goes Voldermort. It also gives the extra tug to the heart strings to picture Arthur, sweet and wonderful in so many ways, trying to get through the death of his wife and keep raising their last kid.

Is there anyone out there that isn't in love with the Weasley family? I want to be a Weasley, and my family is awesome.

I've actually got a song somewhere based on that theory, actually.
Actually, its more along the lines of Percy being kidnapped by Malfoy and polyjuice. Lemme find it.

I was thinking in regards to the Horcruxes (however the hell you pluralize that). He's going to need Hermione to help him find/break the wards.

I want to be a Weasley twin. Or maybe Bill or Charlie's twin.
I've never been all that fond of Ron, Ginny, or Percy for some reason. *shrugs*

I have always carried a soft spot for Percy. There but for the grace of self-confidence go I, and all that. Had I been less sure of myself during my high school years, I could have easily been an insufferable jackass, so I look at Percy and see how he is [most likely because he's so smart], and I just want to cuddle him and tell him it's okay.

JK denounced Harry has a horcrux, yes? I can't remember.

I haven't actually been paying attention. I got EE on the WOMBAT, grade 2, that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

Googling it's brought up nothing from Rowling though, but I didn't actually look all that hard.

No bother. It just gives me another reason to bite my nails to dust as I read. For book six, a friend and I read them side-by-side, and she read a bit faster, so I'd be there, minding my own business, and then I'd hear, "OH!", and then I'd stick my tounge out at her and try to get ahead. Oh, the theories we had going.

I don't know when I'll be able to get my hands on book 7.
I'm not sure I'll have the money to preorder it.

Are you near a Wal-Mart or K-Mart or Target? I know that, for the last book, a friend and I did the party at Barnes and Noble [never again], and actually bought our books at Wal-Mart. The place was deserted. They had a huge stack of books just sitting there and no one around to mob them.

Perhaps you could throw up a tent at your local library.
