Because now that it's back, I am in a very good place.

A couple of places where I went hunting for spoilers in the pre-season mentioned that they felt "Top Gear" had lost its creative flow in series 9. I feel that we need to drag Richard into the various places where this is being said, point at him, and declare: "Brain injury, idiots. Of COURSE series 9 was a bit off. BRAIN INJURY."

And then I would explain to them in very small words what, exactly, it means when 1/3 of the creative juices gets turned all topsy-turvy. The man has no recollection of his first taping past walking down those airline stairs. Nevermind he looked even more wee than usual because he'd dropped so much weight, and people can't seem to remember that when they want to bitch about how series 9 "wasn't the same". Of course it wasn't the same, you utter spanners. BRAIN INJURY.

That bit of annoyance out of the way, I do want to say something in regards to Richard's weeness: The man is the same height as my darling fiance. I have come to the realization that the tininess of him stems from the fact that whenever I see him he is flanked by men who are 5-8" taller than he is. I have the suspicion that if I were to meet Richard Hammond, the first words out of my mouth would be, "You look shorter on television". And then I would die of embarrassment.

And these have been your fangirl moments for the day.

You are SOO right!
*kicks them stupid people*

I really hate that they keep going on about Richard's height.
Yes he is not tall but there is nothing short about 5"7 that's taller than a lot of women I know including me and its only short compared to Jeremy guh - and he is giant.
Awww *hugs* the first time I saw him and when he left me I was heard to say "You are a driving god!" which I didn't think just said and that makes me squirm with embarrasement even now

Jeremy and James giving him hell for his height is a given; it's how they show affection. But commentators who bring it up almost instantly? WTF? I call him "wee" because that's how he looks on my television. When he's next to JEREMY, who is a GIANT.

yeah it explains why he is so feisty
I hate that what people call affection or teasing can be psychologically damaging - its just bullying with a friendly name.
He knows that they don't mean it - I guess he's used to it from them but i hate to watch it day in day out - you have to be enormously confident and happy in yourself not to be effected by it

I know what you mean about dressing up bad things with better-sounding words, but I do think the way they constantly poke at each other is really how they show they care. They've mentioned previously that they're all very close, but they're *men*, so of course they can't *say* it to one another. It's so very stereotypically male that it's almost eye-rolling, but I do think it's genuine affection.
