One of those watching runs

So I watched "Life on Mars" 1.8 a few days back, yeah? It made me cry.
So I thought I'd watch the Christmas special of "Doctor Who". Which made me cry.
And then I thought I'd watch the first episode of "Cranford". And I cried.
DEAR BRITISH TELEVISION:
STOP IT.
On a "Cranford" note, I found the whole thing completely delightful. I adore Judi Dench and love seeing her in anything, and Philip Glenister all gussied up in his 1840s finery? Nice. And Imalda Staunton as the town gossip? Delightful. And surprise Gambon! For all the crying I did [and there was quite a bit], I really did enjoy it. It was a very warm and inviting piece of work, and every person in it was well-meaning in their own way. It's nice to be able to sit down and watch something where no one's actively out to get anyone else.
I am well aware that "Cranford" is based off of a series of books, and while I haven't read those books, I'm betting the death of Mr. Carter was in them. I will not, then, write any sort of fix-it where Mr. Carter [EDWARD] and the milliner [whose name completely escapes me] end up falling in love and growing all old and modern together. The story ended how it ended, and that's that, but can't you just see her giving Mr. Carter what-for if he tries to complain about missing his leg? They would be delightful.
