I'm watching the L&O: UK opener because, a) DUDE, LAW & ORDER and b) DUDE KENNEDY JAMIE BAMBER.

Or, as I said to The Husband tonight: "I want to check it out. It's weird only watching one L&O."

[Upon seeing that it was a duffel.]

ME: [And, yes, I said this out loud] "Head in a bag. Head in a bag. Head in a bag. Head in a bag."

[At the first sight of the female officer's face.

ME: "Damnit. Dead baby."

AND I WAS RIGHT, PEOPLE.

I also called the quasi-incest between the siblings on L&O [original flavor] a few weeks ago.

So, what's to blame? The epic amount of Law & Order [and Homicide, and various other cop shows] over the years or my father?

EDIT: OMG Freema's the hot female DA! Oh, Dick Wolf, you and your hot female DAs. Who are always some degree of awesome.

mininova's got a healthy one already.

And I'm completely in love with how British television seems to revolve around the same dozen or so people. I know it doesn't actually, but I do seem to see the same troupe everywhere.

You would love it doubly because the first 13 episodes are updated versions of old episodes. [Something to do with Dick Wolf's licensing fees or some such].

And Dick Wolf thinks 13 episodes is too short a season. Oh, DIck, you American.

Heh. I remember seeing all four Blackadder series for the first time and thinking, "Where are the rest of the episodes?"

I checked out the Wiki page for it, and I recognize the first episode! It was a L&O Mothership ep, where the girl dropped off her dead baby at a hospital because the baby had died in an apartment due to the heater not working. I wish I could remember what it was called, and what season it aired in, but it was one of the earlier seasons, because it had Mike Logan in it. <3

I didn't recognize the main plot, but there was a certain twist that I called before the investigation portion was even over. And I did not care. Because, come on, it's L&O.

There's just something reassuring about L&O's little habits. :D

I was SO for Head in a Bag (tm) until that moment, and then I knew it was a baby too. THEY WERE THE ONLY OPTIONS. Though something off the predictable would be right. AN ELBOW.

Freema's hot but I just feel like she plays the same Capable And Intelligent Female every time. It makes me worry that maybe she's not much of an actress, just pretty. But OMG IS JAMIE BARBER NOT PRETTY? And Matt/Ronnie all over the place, dripping with sex? And does the equivalent of a DA not have a sexy Scottish accent? YES YES AND YES.

(I think the gov is Roger's British cousin.)

Laaaaastly, they are basing the eps off of really early L&O episodes. I wish I had more than seasons 3 and 4 because I want to see the originals and compare. Still, I think it has potential! Even if the lack of usual theme song was jarring.

Now, if only I knew why everyone wore a wig in court except Freema's character. NO BLACK WIGS, BRITISH LAW?

I may have looked up the wig thing on wiki. She doesn't wear a wig because she trained as a soliciter general and not as a barrister. I think that translates as she trained as a general law attorney whereas James trained as a criminal law attorney.

Thank goodness you saw the Matt/Ronnie.

"You blood sugar's dipping."
"Can I have my tie back, now?"

And when Matt tries to undo his tie, and Ronnie swats him away? Hee.

Kind of sort of butting in, HI.

Actually, a solicitor is an "out of court" lawyer, while a barrister is an "in court" lawyer. Basically you go to a solicitor if you have legal problems, and if those legal problems lead to a court appearance, the solicitor gets a barrister to present the case. (Based on what I remember of the British justice system from ages ago college.)
