Yes, Chekov is 17, and that, in this day and age, makes him technically "underage" for most places. However, as Chekov is an ensign in Starfleet, this means he is legally allowed to get his ass blown off for a living. Which means he's most likely allowed to get laid by whatever hot piece of GQMF piece of ass he likes best on his ship.

I get the that the whole jailbait thing cranks your gears, and that's neat, but there are so many ways to enjoy it without it all being, "Oh, dear me, that poor boy is only 17! I must resist!"

Also, I'm disappointed that you GQMFs haven't done as much "hot Chekov cross-dressing" fic as there should be. That bitch is pretty. Now slap some make-up on that bitch.

Then I wondered how one might blow an ass without it tickling like hell.

Also? I wonder if people are resisting the cross-dressing because, again, Chekov is jailbait, onoes, we should resist?

Also also, while pondering this, there's a similar sort of thing where, a soldier is 18. He's old enough to die for his country (here in the US), and yet, he's not old enough to legally drink alcohol. It doesn't make sense, but that's the system we've got in place now?

It is 18 to die, 21 to drink in most places [19 in Maryland, I think]. And I get that a lot of people are probably writing from that perspective, but I like to think the Trek universe is more progressive than that. If you're in Starfleet and are allowed to go on a starship, you are allowed to get laid. As far as drinking, I used the ridiculousness of today's laws in my own fic, so perhaps I should sit quietly on that.

Another thing that kind of makes me scratch my head is that a lot of pregnancy (female or male) tends to have yaybabies instead of "abortion time!"

I think that has to do with the general nature of fic to be a romanticized version of the world. For most people yay!babies [great name, by the way] is what they want. Personally, I am now tempted to write a yay!abortion, just to see whose heads would explode.

SGA has the best ass babies ever. Oh, god, that reminds me, if you watch "Eureka", have you read the side-splittingly hilarious Eureka/SGA crossover where McKay and Sheppard move to Eureka? It's also very sweet, surprisingly, but also FUNNY.

I read a really good Severus/Bill [or possibly Charlie] where Severus transfers a fetus to himself, HATES IT, but carries the kid to term because he felt responsible for the mother's death.

I haven't read the Severus/Bill (it's hard for me to read Snape/Weasley, because it never seems like it'd work), but I can see Snape carrying the child to term out of guilt. He does a shitload out of guilt, really.
