Oh, Illya Getting nailed with fear gas and then saying you'll "pretend" to be human.

Oh, honey.

This is one of the top fic producing episodes, right? Scared and shaking Illya with Napoleon forced to keep his mind on his work. Because if it's not, man, it should be.

Poor Illya, cowering like he was in that chick's apartment. :(

I loved her too, especially for the moment when he says, "pretend I am a rock or a tree," so she snuggles up against his back, and I went, "damned right!"

What's even funnier is that David and Jill Ireland (the innocent of the episode) were husband-and-wife at the time. She guest-starred a total of five times, I think, and you can tell in the last time she guest-stars that their marriage has already degenerated.

Oh, that's kinda sad, because they were super-cute. I also just plain liked her. They let her have a little spunk.

It happens, but the same innocent comes back again in a "sequel" to QA a few episodes after QA ends, so you get to see her be spunky again. :D

Awesome! I'm converting a few more episodes for my iPod right now. I'm doing one from early season one (with only Napoleon) and then one from later in the season, with both of them.

Have you already picked which ones you're doing, or are you deciding it now, or what?

I'm just going by number. I've got "The Shark Affair" from early in the season and "The Deadly Decoy Affair" from later in the season. And I just realized the one with Illya have scared times was episode 3. I had assumed it was later. No big, really, but interesting; I hadn't realized they did a team-up so early.

Also, I love how everything on the show that can knock you out or freak you out is gas.

Well, James Bond had to contends with all kinds of gas, didn't he? Luckily, he didn't have gas in bed, or else that would've just been bad.

As it was, yeah, they did a team-up, but it was definitely all about Napoleon in the beginning of the season before about the Terbuf Affair. I think from then on, they were partnered. *nodnod*

Oooh, the Shark Affair. I liked that one. Very indicative of the nuclear-terror of the 1960s, and this is before the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred.

The Deadly Decoy Affair isn't one of my favorites (UNCLE caught somebody who's going to testify at a trial, but he's definitely not trustworthy or something, and the thing is, there's a decoy, and the real deal. The guys are protecting one of them, but they don't know which one), but it's much better than the campy third season eps, imo.

Oh, crap, I think I've seen DD now that I think about it.

::checks::

I have! I enjoyed it, I remember, but I like a bit of a switch-a-roo.

The "Mad Mad Tea Party" it is, then! If there are not pounds of Alice in Wonderland references, I will be cranky.

I am nowhere near season 3, though I'll probably like it for the enormous camp factor once I get there.

MMTP was a fun little romp, really. I really liked the innocent in that one because she wasn't conventionally pretty. There were a few Alice in Wonderland refs that I recall, but if you read more into stuff than I do, you might find more than I did? I dunno. *^^*

But yes, MMTP is fun, and SA is thinky and interesting. :D

IT IS SO AWESOME!!

It's the whimpering, which makes me feel bad, but then I remember that I LOVE ANGST. And, oh, I want to write a post-ep, with Napoleon showing up and trying to talk to him and Illya trying to put him off.

My god, it might even be GEN.

Hi! I found this thread in your journal because I just started watching Man from Uncle, and I was Googling for...basically, the fic you described here. Did you ever find (or write!) it? It seems like there ought to be *tons* of fic dealing with the fallout of the fear gas, but either my google-fu has completely failed me, or there isn't.

AO3 has ONE eensy-weensy comment fic that deals with the event in a light, angst-free way. I'm astonished. Thanks anyway for replying!
