Hatchling

He flung the batarang and watched it arc through the air. It sliced the first rope but missed the second. Dick cursed and walked across the cave to pull the batarang out of the mat that was strapped on the wall.
“You almost had it.”
He kept himself from jumping by sheer force of will. He was still getting used to how silent Bruce-no, *Batman*-could be when he was in the cave. “I missed the second one.”
“But you didn’t hit any last time.” Batman, because that’s who he was at the moment, even without his mask, walked over and took the batarang from Dick’s hand. “You just need to flick your wrist with a little more curve.” He demonstrated, flicking his wrist without letting go of the batarang. “And don’t look at your arm. Look at your target. Your arm will learn to follow.” He handed the batarang back.
Dick tried again. He got the first rope, missed the second rope, but landed the batarang into the sandbag of the third rope.
