Smoothing Over

The scar is still there, smoother than the skin surrounding it. Toby traces it on days and nights when he can't get the memories to go away.

Ron never says anything when Toby gets quiet and reaches for his hand. He knows Toby will forever blame himself for it, and he's learned it's absolutely impossible to talk Toby out of anything. He let's Toby wallow for only so long before he kisses him and presses their foreheads together. "I'm still here."

Toby never replies in words. He just threads his fingers wtih Ron's and presses his palm against the scar.

I don't think I've seen this pairing before, but it works better than most relationships involving Toby. Is there more hiding somewhere?
