I am not dead! I've got an internship, a class, and some freelancing on deck right now, so I'm a touch busy. Still working on the Scotty/Chekov, but it's slightly slow going, so it may be a bit.
Oh! And we saw "Up". I cried for about a third of it. That makes it more than I cried for "Finding Nemo" and a little less than "Wall-E". I like crying at Pixar films, because no matter how much I cry, it ends happily. And, oh, "Up", you guys.
I don't know if any of you know this, but the reason the cranky old man goes on his adventure is because his childhood sweetheart [who later becomes his wife], passes away when they're old and creaky, and their one big of adventure plan was to follow their childhood hero to Paradise Falls. But she died, you see, and he's about to get moved into a retirement home, and so he escapes.
And...oh. It's just...if I could work for Pixar in any degree, I would do it in a damned second, because it's a film about a man on an adventure, and it's about a working through grief and finding hope beyond the life you'd planned, and it's about how a kid with an absent father can be an upstanding, smart, respectful citizen, and it's just...oh.
So, in short, see it.
And how's the flist?
Oh, yeah:
leaper182, I've not read it yet, but I will shortly. Promise.

on 2009-06-12 06:45 pm (UTC)Oh, yeah, and I teared up with the short this time [Partly Cloudy] because I felt so bad for the little gray cloud who was so proud of his little monsters, and I thought he'd lost his friend.
