A Cop's Christmas

Fin’s standing in front of him with a mug of tea. “Thanks.”
“Yeah.” Fin sits next to John on the couch and slings an arm along the back. “You couldn’t do anything.”
“We could have done something. We could have moved faster, reacted more quickly. We could have made it there before she died.”
“No, we couldn’t. She was dead two hours minimum. No way we could have shaved our time that much.” Fin pressed his hand to the back of John’s neck. “She’s dead. At least it was quick.”
“It’s fucking Christmas.”
Fin sighed and stared at nothing. “Yeah.”
