Bless those polite bastards

I keep up with
celiac over on lj because while I haven't been tested for celiac (it would require me to go back to eating wheat for about three months, and I'd feel like shit), going off wheat cleared up a lot of problems. I don't sleep 14 hours anymore. I don't get sick at the drop of a hat. I don't get horrific headaches. My horrid winter cough is mostly extinct. In short, going off wheat is the best thing I've ever done (and a full-blown doc agrees that it means I've got wheat-gluten issues--this wasn't done in a vaccum).
Anyway, as I mentioned, I keep up with the group at lj because they bring out lots of good information, and it's nice to have a large group of people who get the grousing about how, yes, barley and wheat are related, so no, I can't have barely. Yes, really.
Today, there was a post from someone who said their liver enzymes were up and said that she/he/it "had a treat" once in a while. The response from the commenters? Pretty much, "Oh, that's too bad. You should stop "treating" yourself to something that's bad for you."
Except, they did it in nicer terms. Which is great, because it saves me from going, "Yo! Dumbass! Don't fucking do that!"
I'll be honest: the first year I was gluten-free, I cheated a few times. Pizza occasionally. Real pasta. But the thing about stuff that's bad for you, when you cut it out and try to reintroduce it, it gets really bad for you. Pizza is so not worth it when your stomach cramps are so bad you can't move.
Is it still annoying as hell to find food sometimes? Yeah. Is it sometimes hard to find bread that doesn't taste like ass? Oh, yes. But, hell, if I get six hours of sleep, I'm okay. I'm not wondering what the fuck is wrong with me. That's a win.
